Our goal when building Wunderpus in 2014 was to provide our guests with a feeling of comfort and space that we felt was missing on many boats. For this reason we limit the number of guests onboard to 8 and used all available space to create luxurious relaxing areas where you can take time between dives to enjoy the surrounding beauty, read a book or take a nap ready for your next adventure.
Accomodation on Wunderpus consists of 2 double cabins with queen size beds and 2 double/twin cabins with a queen size bed and a single bunk.
All 4 cabins are equipped with AC, spring beds, ensuite bathroom with hot water shower, charging points for your electrical devices and ample storage.
Wunderpus also has 2 upper decks for relaxing and comfortable sunbeds for the times between dives, one of these is shaded and one is uncovered so you can work on your tan or look up at the stars at night. For your comfort we will find a sheltered mooring for overnight stays so you can get a comfortable nights sleep ready for another day of diving.
Food on Wunderpus
Our chef will prepare 4 delicious meals per day for you to enjoy either in our air conditioned salon or on deck where you can enjoy the spectacular beauty of your surroundings in the day or dine under the stars at night. We offer mostly Indonesian/Asian influenced dishes with occasional European favorites and a hearty European/American breakfast. Plenty of fresh fruit, salads and seafood are of course available.
About the boat
Wunderpus is traditionally built from Ironwood and Indonesian Teak but is equipped with all modern safety equipment including liferaft, lifejackets, marine radio, GPS, satellite phone, fire extinguishers and of course emergency oxygen. On each trip there are minimum 2 crew with EFR training for emergencies.
At 25 metres long and 4.8 metres wide she is very comfortable for the small groups of maximum 8 guests onboard.
With a cruising speed of 7-9 knots powered by a 6 cylinder turbo charged engine maintained by our onboard engineer Wunderpus can carry you fast and in comfort to some of the best diving on the planet.
Our 41KVH diesel generator is more than powerful enough to run our onboard Bauer PE200 compressor and all the air conditioning, lights and charging points for your electrical devices that are available in both public areas and in each of our 4 cabins. We also have a 15 KVH small generator to run the AC and electrics overnight so you can be assured of a comfortable nights sleep.
We carry 6 tonnes of fresh water onboard for washing and 4 tonnes of fuel to power our main engine and generator.
Safety and equipment
We take safety very seriously and all our dive equipment is regularly serviced and of high quality from brands such as Mares, Aqua Lung and Apeks. We also limit group sizes to maximum 4 divers per group, divers with similar experience levels in the same groups and each diver has minimum safety equipment of surface marker, signaling light and reflective signaling device.
Diving and Itineraries
All our divestaff have 1000’s of dives in Komodo under their belts and know Komodo and its currents very well so regardless of your experience level you can be sure we will choose divesites and times suitable for your experience level.
Itineraries for each trip vary depending on diver experience, local tides and conditions. But you can be assured we will try to show you the best diving Komodo has to offer in the safest conditions. We also try to dive the popular sites outside the times when daytrip boats are around…we want to see fish not divers right….
